A vote on bill S. 3021, America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) of 2018, and the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) is anticipated to take place in the near future. The bill, advocated for by the Boat Owners Association of the United States (BoatU.S.), brings funding for waterways, reservoirs, levees, locks, dams, navigation improvements, water conservation and maintenance funds for harbors of refuge.
“The bill authorized the needed investment in waterways where millions of Americans recreate,” says David Kennedy, the government affairs manager of BoatU.S. “It also promotes policies to address water-quality concerns, such as the harmful algal blooms recently seen in Florida and the Great Lakes.”
