Got any old Lake Michigan coastal dune pictures? Scientists want them! Researchers at the Michigan Environmental Council, the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and Michigan State University want any old photos of Michigan’s coastal dunes along Lake Michigan that may be sitting in picture frames, photo albums or on SD cards.
The scientists will use the photos to study how to conserve sand dunes by comparing them to what the sites look like today. The pictures should be ideally 25 years or older and labeled with the exact location they were taken.
To submit photos, visit environmental council.org/historic-dune-photos. If you have five or more photos, email dunes@environmentalcouncil.org.
