The brand-new downtown Social District opened in Grand Haven, Michigan, on October 22, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy drinks, food and community in the beautiful outdoor setting. Spanning Washington Avenue from Harbor Drive to Third Street and sides of First and Second Streets, the new district covers six blocks, allowing customers to enjoy alcoholic beverages and more from approved vendors in the social district.
Beverages are served in special cups bearing the Grand Haven Main Street Social District logo as well as the local business name or logo. Current approved vendors include Odd Side Ales, Grand Armory Brewing, Corners Tasting Room and The Kirby House, with more to come, currently awaiting state approval. Presented by Grand Haven Main Street and the City of Grand Haven, the new social district is the perfect way to enjoy charming downtown Grand Haven with family and friends over the holidays while supporting some incredible local businesses.
“We are looking very forward to opening the Social District in Grand Haven,” says Jeremy Swiftney, executive director of Grand Haven Main Street. “This has been a work in progress for many months, and we are very thankful for our volunteers, the City of Grand Haven, and its City Council for believing in the safety and feasibility of this planned district. Economic vitality and recovery from the pandemic are very important to our community and to Grand Haven Main Street. This is just one more example of our business community, advocates, local leaders, and local residents all working together to assist in achieving these results for our Main Street businesses.”
