Lake Michigan Carferry, owner of the SS Badger carferry, has announced that the Badger will likely resume service for the 2024 season. It has received the final permit required from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to start rebuilding the dock infrastructure necessary to operate the ferry.
In 2023, the SS Badger’s 70th season of transporting cars and passengers from Ludington, Michigan, to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, was cut short due to a failure of its ramp system.
“With the season ending unexpectedly this year, we cannot wait to welcome everyone back in the spring of 2024,” says Sara Spore, general manager of the Lake Michigan Carferry.
