In honor of its new exhibit highlighting small craft in the summer Olympics, The Antique Boat Museum (ABM) will revive its seasonal lecture series and will host a free group discussion on July 21 at 7 p.m. at the ABM’s Robert O. Cox Theatre.
Dr. Nancy Gustke will lead the group discussion on “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown, which tells the true story of the University of Washington varsity crew team’s journey to the 1936 summer Olympics in Berlin. Dr. Gustke is a retired history professor and published author who currently serves as a seasonal tour guide aboard ABM’s Gilded Age houseboat, La Duchesse. After the guided discussion, attendees can see rowing shells from the collection.
This year’s Olympic Games begin on July 25 in Tokyo.
A full schedule of other lectures will be available soon. To learn more about this lecture and the ABM, visit abm.org.
