Toronto International Boat Show Kicks Off

By January 7, 2016No Comments

The time has finally come to get out of the winter cold and head inside to the 2016 Toronto International Boat Show! Events kick off January 8 and run until January 17 at the Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place.

The Toronto show features hundreds of boats of all sizes and types: the perfect opportunity to literally put yourself behind the wheel of boats you’ve considered buying (or only dream of buying). There will also be tons of marine gadgets and boating gear to peruse, informational classes and seminars, as well as family-friendly events.

In particular, there are a few new features at this year’s show that shouldn’t be missed. For boaters who have always wanted to sail but never given it a shot, Ontario Sailing is debuting the first sailing simulator of its kind for demonstrations and hands-on practice. Culture fans should keep an eye out for Sails of the 2015 Pan Am Games: 41 sails displayed in ceremonies for the Toronto 2015 Games that were designed by artists from each participating country. For history buffs, there is the “Greavette: 85 Years—Heading Home to Gravenhurst” exhibition, which displays a variety of vintage boats and motors from the company’s history. If you’re seeking a bit more of a thrill, be sure to head to The Lake to ride in a canoe, kayak or paddleboat, or to learn how to wakeboard and waterski.
