U.S. Coast Guard Releases 2015 Boating Statistics

The U.S. Coast Guard has added up the numbers and released the 2015 Recreational Boating Statistics. This report is a somber reminder to boat responsibly, always wear a life jacket and never drink and drive.

According to the report, in 2015 the Coast Guard counted 4,158 accidents that involved 626 deaths, 2,613 injuries and approximately $42 million of damage to property as a result of recreational boating accidents. The number of accidents increased 2.3 percent from 2014, while the number of deaths increased 2.6 percent. Also, 85 percent of drowning victims were not wearing life jackets.
