Cortex, Vesper Marine’s new VHF radio, is the first of its kind to have wireless touch-screen handsets, built-in Class B SOTDMA smartAIS transponder and remote vessel monitoring. It signals safety risks like collisions through smartAIS, which uses navigation and weather information to alert boaters of unsafe conditions. The touch-screen handsets allow for easy calling and even features a man overboard button that marks the point and alerts all other connected handsets.
“Innovation in AIS technology, touch-screen devices and vessel monitoring has skyrocketed in recent years, but marine VHF hasn’t kept pace and remains an anachronism,” says Jeff Robbins, CEO. “Cortex fundamentally changes how you interact with safety communication systems.”
