Volvo’s new hybrid concept for propulsion systems will provide more environmentally-friendly, electrified power for your boat’s engine by 2021.
The hybrid system includes Volvo diesels, electric motor drive and lithium batteries that produce zero-emission propulsion, are quieter, and have a lower vibration and running costs. The system is planned initially for the 8- to 13-liter Volvo engine range for yachts, ferries, pilot and supply boats. The hybrid IPS will be available commercially in 2021, followed by a leisure boat option soon after.
