Water Trails Along Lake Erie Popular With Paddlers

By August 8, 2018November 19th, 2019No Comments

New water trails developed by state and federal park officials have been well-liked among paddlers in canoes and kayaks along Lake Erie. With free launch areas and five circular paddling routes, the Mainland Trail has brought people of all ages to 60 miles of access points around South Bass, Middle Bass and North Bass islands, as well as Kelleys Island and the Catawba and Marblehead Peninsula area.

While the area has been a big hit with paddlers, small boats can enjoy the area, too. Free information on safety, the environment, access amenities, paddling distances and an official map can be found online or in person at the Lake Erie Shores and Islands Welcome Centers in Port Clinton and Sandusky. Remember to always check the weather and wear a lifejacket at all times.
