The Waukegan Port District, which manages Illinois’ Waukegan Harbor, recently welcomed a new general manager, Randy Rogers, to its staff. Rogers served in the Navy for 11 years, spent 21 years with the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD), and was chief of staff for the Office of the Transportation Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
Rogers already has plans for the Army Corps of Engineers to dredge the outer harbor and approach channel, which would allow commercial shipping operations to resume after two years. He also is working to expand amenities at the 850-slip marina.
