We just ended our last full week in Stuart! Although we have loved this town and all the conveniences it offers, we are beyond ecstatic to leave TOMORROW! We plan to take a short two-hour cruise from our anchorage in the St. Lucie River to a new anchorage in Jensen Beach, which will put us in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). From there we will continue north Friday through Sunday.
With time in Stuart dwindling, we tried another new (to us) restaurant and enjoyed the food and drinks at Spritz City Bistro right in the heart of downtown. We said “see you later” to many friends and coworkers, which has been bittersweet with each goodbye.
The weekend was jam-packed, starting with a sunset cruise Friday night to check in on all our systems and fill our water tanks at the fuel dock. We then enjoyed karaoke with our marina friends before gearing up for our big Costco run on Saturday morning. Our friends on S/V Slacker joined us at Costco and let’s just say we had a fun game of Tetris filling two full carts into Evan’s small sedan. Nevertheless, we made it work and, of course, had to celebrate with a drink at a new brewery in Hobe Sound called Sound Brewing Co.
We have been thoroughly impressed with the events and amenities at Sunset Bay Marina and will be sad to leave. From the free laundry to the incredibly friendly staff, we cannot recommend this marina enough to cruisers passing through Stuart. They hosted a Super Bowl party and it felt like the perfect send-off before we depart.
Our first visitor, Evan’s dad, will be joining us this upcoming week so he can drive Evan’s car to Iowa, where it will sit in storage for at least the next year. We’re excited to have a guest onboard and show him all we’ve been working on.
Cheers to officially starting this adventure!
