To coincide with National Safe Boating Week, West Marine is hosting a weeklong fundraiser for its nonprofit, the BlueFuture Fund. West Marine will donate $5 from each life jacket purchase (up to $30,000) to BlueFuture from May 21-27.
The BlueFuture Fund supports community-based organizations that are dedicated to providing recreational and educational opportunities for young people in and around water. The BlueFuture Fund distributes tens of thousands of dollars each year through BlueFuture grants, and this fundraiser (along with two additional annual fundraisers) is critical for growing the fund.
“If we can expand BlueFuture through fundraisers like this, we can support more nonprofit organizations that are doing good work in their respective communities,” says Lindsey Johnson, West Marine’s director of communications. “This particular fundraiser also is important to us because we always want to encourage safe, responsible boating. It’s our privilege to support the National Safe Boating Council as it embarks on its annual North American Safe Boating Campaign.”
