West Marine’s BlueFuture Sees Largest Grant Cycle Ever

By March 31, 2021No Comments

Sea Affinity was the nonprofit chosen by the Baltimore, Maryland, West Marine store.

Each year, boating retailer West Marine’s BlueFuture foundation issues grants to nonprofit organizations throughout the country that are dedicated to enhancing youth boating, sailing, adventure, conservation, education and stewardship. This year BlueFuture achieved its largest funding cycle ever, with over $100,000 raised to fund grants during the 2020-2021 grant cycle.

“These grants would not be possible without our customers and their donations to BlueFuture. In a year filled with uncertainty, we were able to raise the money for our largest grant cycle to date. West Marine truly has the best customers and their generosity and commitment to getting the next generation out on the water inspires us,” says Ken Seipel, CEO of West Marine. “With so many youth-focused nonprofits losing funding in 2020, we are proud to continue our BlueFuture grants and support these organizations who connect future generations to the water through recreation and education initiatives.”

The grants will go to fund 64 community-based nonprofits across the country, allowing these groups to provide scholarships, purchase equipment, maintain staff, add programs and so much more.

Each of the top 10 fundraising stores were allowed to choose a nonprofit to receive funding. For a list of grant recipients and more information on BlueFuture, visit westmarine.com/BlueFuture.
