Williams Jet Tenders has approved the use of HVO100 (hydrotreated vegetable oil) for use on all its YANMAR 4JH engine powered tenders, including the DieselJet 415, 445, and 505, and SOLAS 505, after successful first stage testing. The announcement comes as part of Williams’ larger commitment to sustainability and efforts to offer alternative solutions to reduce boating’s carbon footprint.

New product developments and product testing at Williams powered by these diesel engines will now utilize HVO100, and Williams is actively looking to transition its fleet of vehicles, including delivery vans and lorries, as well as the YANMAR 4LV powered models, to HVO100 once further testing has been completed.

“We are committed to finding innovative sustainable solutions that reduce the direct emissions impact from our factory and our vehicles. By using UCO HVO, a renewable fuel made from waste cooking oil, we will accelerate our efforts to decarbonise,” explains Sarah Moore, sustainability specialist at Williams Jet Tenders. “We hope that by using HVO in our fleet and in our approved test boats, we will raise awareness of the benefits of switching to alternative fuels. As we carry out exploratory testing on our products, it will allow us to confirm HVO use in more of our tenders, enabling us to achieve a greater reduction in our carbon footprint as more Williams Jet Tender engines are approved for use.”

HVO100 can successfully reduce emissions without compromising performance, and along with reducing greenhouse gas emissions, UCO HVO helps reduce dependency on fossil fuels, as it’s made from waste cooking oil. It also produces fewer particulates, sulfur and nitrogen oxides compared to conventional diesel, reducing air pollution.

“YANMAR Marine International is proud to partner with Williams Tenders, a collaboration perfectly aligned to YANMAR’S commitment to sustainability,” adds Floris Lettinga, director of Sales and Marketing at YANMAR Marine International. “At YANMAR Marine International, we prioritise environmental responsibility, and this partnership highlights our ongoing dedication to our wider Green Challenge 2050. By integrating YANMAR’S HVO approved engines across the Williams Tenders’ range of boats and vehicles, we are not just propelling innovation; we are supporting our customers in propelling a sustainable journey towards a cleaner future. Together, we help our customers navigate the steps towards optimising cutting-edge technology with environmental consciousness.”
