For the second time in three years, Windquest was the first boat to cross the finish line of the 105th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, which took place Saturday, July 13 and ran from Chicago, Illinois to Mackinac Island, Michigan.

The Max Z86 yacht, owned by Dick and Doug DeVos and based out of Macatawa Bay Yacht Club in Holland, Michigan, arrived at the race’s end on Sunday, July 14. The DeVoses said light winds in the latter half of the race made its completion “very challenging.” Winquest’s 20-person crew completed the race in 49: 57: 52.

Thousands of sailors participate in the 333-mile race on Lake Michigan each year. This year’s event was one of the slowest on record due to the light wind conditions.
