The 2026 Great Loop Challenge powered by Honda Marine will start from Lake Beresford Yacht Club in DeLand, Florida on August 8, 2026. An ultra-endurance marine marathon, the event raises funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research through the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, while displaying the performance and reliability of the Honda Marine BF350 V8 outboard.
The challenge covers over 7,300 nautical miles, led by cancer survivor Captain Scott “Red” Flowers and an experienced crew. The route is inspired by the Great Loop, covering a network of waterways surrounding the eastern United States, portions of Canada and the Mississippi River system. Flowers and his team will aim to complete the route in a set time aboard a custom built Portā DARK:30 Velocity, running 24/7, outside of planned stops, before returning to the yacht club for the finish.
The effort provides a real-world demonstration of Honda Marine’s high-power four-stroke outboard technology, including efficiency, durability, quiet operation, low emissions and long-range reliability, while aiming to raise $1 million in funds for pediatric cancer research. The 2026 route expands upon the 6,500-nautical-mile Great Loop run Flowers and his crew completed in 2024 in 19 days, 19 hours and 50 minutes, raising $450,000 for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
