Navier has chosen an experienced expert to be at the helm of the newest innovation from the enterprising company led by two MIT engineers. The new Navier 27 promises to be a cutting-edge electric foiling performance vessel that includes advanced autonomy features and is capable of a range exceeding 75 nautical miles under electric propulsion — the longest range electric boat in the world.

Leading Navier’s mechanical design on the vessel will be none other than the lead designer at Oracle Team USA since 2003 and the principal design engineer for the 35th America’s Cup in 2017, Paul Bieker.

“Our goal is to work with the best team possible and we believe Paul is the best expert in hydrofoil technology,” says Co-founder and CEO Sampriti Bhattacharyya. “With Paul’s decades of real-world experience in building hydrofoiling crafts and our own expertise in control systems we are ensuring that Navier 27 is the best performance electric craft built till date.”

Bieker brings to the table plenty of experience and expertise in hydrofoils and performance engineering, propelling the new 27-foot Navier 27 to new heights and capabilities. When it is unveiled at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, the vessel will be 90% more efficient than traditional boats of the same size, and capable of flying over waves reaching up to 4 feet high.

“The things that impressed me the most about Navier and their approach to the 27 project is their focus on the technology and getting a boat on the water as efficiently and quickly as possible,” remarks Paul Bieker. “It was also clear to me that their experience with innovative marine vehicles, flight control, and robotics will help ensure that the most challenging aspects of the project will get the attention that they require.”
