Boat Lost in Boston Bombing Shootout Replaced

By December 18, 2013No Comments

David Henneberry, the man whose boat was destroyed in a dramatic shootout outside his Watertown, Massachusetts home while authorities were in hot pursuit of one of the infamous Boston Marathon bombing suspects, has finally purchased a new boat, according to a recent ABC New report on abcnews.com.

Henneberry used $50,000 the public raised for him through sources such as Facebook and Crowdtilt to buy the new boat, which is a pre-owned 22-foot Seahawk, similar to the one pictured.

Henneberry discovered Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hiding inside the covered boat he stored in the yard outside his home. He called authorities upon finding Tsarnaev, and a standoff/shootout ensued.

“You just want to ramble on you feel so grateful,” Henneberry was quoted as saying upon purchasing the new boat.

“After such a bad thing happened to us and the people of Boston, it was wonderful to see that. It was humbling. It restores your faith in people.”

Henneberry named the new boat Beth Said Yes, in honor of his wife, Beth. The previous boat was named Slip Away.

“That’s fitting isn’t it?,” Henneberry told ABC News. “We decided we were just going to let Slip Away slip away.”
