The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) created International Marine Service Technician Week to help recognize the hard-working professionals who fuel the marine industry. A social media-driven celebration for the boating industry, the event invites businesses and boaters to participate by celebrating and highlighting the marine technicians who make a difference in their lives and communities.
Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) supports the celebration, promoting the week to its 350 members and offering the opportunity to win a $100 Visa gift card to any technician who submits a video or selfie with a technician project underway.
“There are many ways to get involved,” says Kelly Kerchoff, MBIA workforce development director. “You can nominate a technician, host an appreciation lunch for your technicians, share your stories and pictures on Social Media with the following hashtags: #MarineServiceTechWeek #ThankYouMarineTechs and send a press release to your local media.”
Daily social media themes for the week include: Monday, April 20 – Master Technicians; Tuesday, April 21 – Marine Service Programs and Schools; Wednesday, April 22 – Female Technicians; Thursday, April 23 – Outstanding Technician Announcements (Share your own outstanding tech!); Friday, April 24 – The Future of the Industry: Aspiring Technicians and Educators.
Send all MBIA submissions to kkerchoff@mbia.org by April 14th. For more information, visit abycinc.org/thankyoutechs/.
