The American Boat & Yacht Council announced the return of International Marine Service Technicians Week for the second year in a row on April 24-29, 2023. The event brings awareness and recognition of hard-working marine service professionals who help keep our boats safe and functional for the season ahead.

The announcement comes on the tail of ABYC receiving a Neptune Award from the Marine Marketers of Americas at MIBS for the 2022 marketing campaign for International Marine Service Technicians Week. “Our inaugural year was a huge success and it was inspiring to see how businesses, publications, and boaters took the holiday and ran with it in their own ways,” says ABYC Marketing and PR Director Shannon Aronson. “It was a feel-good event where we saw social posts of genuine appreciation, pictures of technicians with their families, and companies throwing parties for their employees. I can’t wait to see what people do this year.”

The event encourages boaters to celebrate the stand-out technicians in their lives, and ABYC will highlight technicians and organizations throughout the week on social media, as well as host daily technical challenges, a prize wheel on their website and offer free online education opportunities. It will also announce the “Outstanding Technician Awards” and will be accepting nominations for five winners to receive VISA gift cards and other prizes.

“In order to retain new boaters, the marine industry needs skilled technicians to provide quality and timely repair and maintenance services,” adds Aronson. “ABYC created International Marine Service Technician Week as one way to promote this fulfilling career path and pay tribute to the people that keep boating safe, reliable, and enjoyable.”
