On October 14, 2023, the East Pierhead Lighthouse in Michigan City, Indiana, was engulfed in 15-foot waves from the 35 mph northeast wind gusts on Lake Michigan. The lighthouse was built in 1904 and is the only public operating lighthouse in Indiana. — Paul Kemiel
