Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding recently unveiled hull No. 1 of the Hood 42 LM, the latest collaboration between the Maine builder and C.W. Hood Yacht Design. With varnished mahogany house sides, bronze bow rail and classic lines, the 42-foot cruiser blends timeless design with modern engineering. Beneath the traditional styling is a thoroughly modern cold-molded wood-composite hull, combining Douglas fir and western red cedar with composite laminates. Twin 440-hp Volvo Penta D6s with DPI drives push the boat to a reported cruising speed in the mid-30-knot range.
Hull No. 1 features a spacious single-owner stateroom forward with generous stowage, an enclosed head and a separate shower stall. The main deck is arranged as an open, single-level living space that seamlessly integrates the helm with the galley, salon and entertaining areas, while the expansive windows flood the interior with natural light.
Available in flybridge or sedan configurations, the Hood 42 LM blends old-school boatbuilding charm with the kind of performance and customization today’s boaters expect.
