On Wednesday, April 19, join the Michigan Maritime Museum and presenter Bob Myers from the Historical Society of Michigan for the conclusion to the museum’s 2022-23 Steamship Lecture Series: “Crossing the Inland Sea: Sailing from the Windy City to St. Joseph/South Haven.”

“Bob is a great asset to Michigan history and a wealth of knowledge about the steamship industry in this area,” says Patti Montgomery-Reinert, executive director of the Michigan Maritime Museum. “We’re thrilled to welcome him here for a talk that will bring our exhibit to life!”

Held at the Maritime Museum in South Haven, Michigan from 6:30-7:30 p.m., the lecture will take a look into the history of Great Lakes passenger steamships as part of the Full Steam Ahead exhibit. Learn about the busy steamship route across Lake Michigan to and from Chicago and the lakeshore communities of South Haven, St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, which thrived during the golden age of Great Lakes steamships, and provided a main route for tourists and transportation of perishables like fruit between the communities.

Tickets are free for museum members and $10 for non-members. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit michiganmaritimemuseum.org.
