Yamaha Announces Boat Club Platform

By September 8, 2026No Comments

Yamaha Marine Connected Boat Division announced its new offering Skipperi, a boat club platform that helps dealers generate new revenue streams, with a technology and reservation system that makes it simple for dealerships to run a boat rental club. Customers reserve boats through the app, access keys through a lockbox, and enjoy time on the water before returning the boat. Connected Boat technology automatically bills fuel usage to the customer, so dealers can simply monitor reservations and manage on-site handling of the boats.

“As customers look for more flexible ways to get on the water, boat clubs create opportunities for dealers to reach new consumers who are passionate about boating but may not fall into the traditional boat ownership model. Skipperi redefines how people get on the water through technology that unlocks a powerful model for dealerships,” says Andrew Cullen, director of Connectivity at Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit. “Skipperi offers a different model than other boat clubs. We handle the technology and transactions, and dealership owners control customer relationships and on-site experience. This is not a franchise model. Dealers can nurture these customers through the club model and build a pipeline of future boat owners.”

The Skipperi app manages bookings, payments, training, contracts and facilitates payments, helping simplify day-to-day fleet management. Customers can do everything from checking availability to reserving boats, checking in and out, completing training and onboarding and monitoring fuel usage directly through the app. The model simplifies operations for dealerships, allowing one fleet manager to oversee up to 15 boats using prioritized task lists. As the model grows, Skipperi is looking to offer access to an expanding network of boats at a flat-rare monthly fee to customers.
